Hi everyone,

Need a little help. I have a 1994 Ranger. I'm doing a 5.0 Swap, carbureted. Here's a list what input I need..

Fuel Set Up..
I'm in need of a fuel pump shut off switch (on motor). Wanted to know what you suggest.

Oil..
Also in need of a oil pressure switch. Just wanted to know if anybody had setup advice?

Thanks Everyone
Nick

Doesn't have to be a carbureted set up, anyone thats swapped a 5.0 using stock wiring, the input would be a great help. Thanks

oil pressure switch? use the stock gauge or one that when it sees pressure will allow the fuel pump to run?

i would run the pump ko and thru the oem rollover/impact switch.

Alright, Thanks for the info. I was gonna run it through stock, but didn't know if there were any wiring difficulties or anything interfering with me doing that.

u can use all the stock senders in the 5.0. for the fuel, dont worry about a shut off, just run a toggle or a key on power with toggle switch for safety. get a efi fuel pressure regulator and tone it down to 8psi. or if u can remove the stock pump form the pickup install an inline carb pump and u wont need a regulator if u go with a street version. 9psi+ u need a reg

Alright I'll look into that. I was thinking about the regulator, Just wasn't sure about how much psi to run it at. I was told around 6-8. So thank you for that. I'll let you know how it works out.

Check with your carb and go by that. My Edelbrock stuff says 6psi max.

Ditto on the OEM impact switch. Mine was under the carpet on the passenger side floor board. I ran a new wire from the hot side of the coil to the switch, then to the frame rail mounted fuel pump.

When i was doing my v8/aod swap last summer I tried to retain as much from the old truck wiring and parts. Used original oil pressure sender and coolant sender (for the 2.9/manual). I used original wiring for efi fuel pump and inertia switch, just a bit of splicing for aod and fuel relay ground wire. I didn't check to see if the inertia switch is working properly yet based on my rewiring the aod backup/neutral safety switch. But the backup lights work correctly. I haven't bypassed the clutch three position switch yet either, just zip tied it up for now to get the engine to start. I used original fuel pump in tank and had to use a Mallory Ignition 4309 - Mallory Fuel Pressure Regulators with the existing fuel lines and special 3/8 npt to nylon fuel line connectors (found on ebay for gm lines) which I think summit has. I used one wire proform hei distributor, but have not got a new tach hooked up in the cab. I tapped into the original ignition wire to power the distributor coil too. Been alot of work, but fun too. Just notes as to what I did, hopefully somewhat helpful.

Oh I have a Edelbrock 1406 with fuel pressure at 6.5 psi approx. Runs fine with this pressure.
