i found a 87 mustang motor to put in a 89 ranger 4x4. havent got it yet wanted to make sure. or should i wait to find a 89 and up . is there going to be alot of problems . if so ill wait. thanks rob
Shouldn't be any major problems. IIRC the only real difference between the 87 and 89 mustang 5.0 is that 87 uses Speed Density while the 89 uses Mass Air. If you go with the 87 and later decide you want mass air it can be converted fairly easily. I think the issues you will run into were covered pretty well in your other thread.
Is it a mustang motor, or is it a mustang with motor? Have you heard it run? If just the motor are you 100% certain that all the needed wiring is there? Personally if it was the in the car running for a good price then I'd jump on it and convert to mass air later. If it were out of the car, or I couldn't hear it run then I'd be more inclined to wait for something else.
