i do want efi

find one out of an explorer thats your best bet

mac, i want to stay auto,i think i need 4r70w or 4r75w i am right ?

so would a new ford 302 boss block would fit

would i have to mod the motor mounts

Since you have an Edge, get an Explorer.

Search to see if your current fuel system is return style, or returnless. Do some Explorer research to answer the same question, then buy that year Explorer, in 2wd automatic.

This will get you Engine, trans, computer, mounts, EVERYTHING you will need. Couple of EVTM to compare the wiring, and you've got one of the simplest swaps.

Junkyard or craigslist. There seem to be a bunch of them that give the driver a feeling of being immortal... and don't survive the winter. I do notice a spike in listings on craigslist for wrecked Explorers this time of year...

I bought a complete, running AWD 5.0 1996 Explorer in December for $500, so there are good deals out there.

You can buy an Ex engine for $800-$1000 on Ebay.

In your case, with an Edge, you could save money buying a complete Explorer donor vehicle.

Plus, with cash for clunckers, the Explorer was one of the higher traded in vehicles; which means there should be a good supply in salvage yards (the case in my area)

...Except the Engines were killed on CFC vehicles. Great program.
They're no good to you.

since you have an edge you could convert your truck to 4wd at the same time if you wanted if you bought a complete 4wd explorer

Does that matter if is is going to be rebuilt anyway?

Fill an engine up with liquid glass, let it harden - sure I guess it could be rebuilt!
