5.0 swap

But to answer your question, the 1980 5.0 when new had less power and torque than the 4.0 does, so you will need to do some work to that engine to make it worth your while. The heads were very restrictive and the cam was junk for example so it will need some new parts.

check the engine code numbers. some (302's) in the early 80's were actually 255 CI. do your homework on that engine.
