5.0 swap?

first hi im new to the site ok now for the good stuff i have a 2000 xlt with the 3.0 v6 and it just blew and i was gonna do a 5.0 swap but dont know which one to go with some say go with a explorer but i was wondering if a mustang would work and also also of you have 4wd mine is 2 dont know how much that matters but if i can use a mustang motor what year and also a good auto trans thanks

Welcome! Being a first timer, you must not know of the great tech libraray up top that covers just about anything you would want to know. This is a great write-up on what you need for that truck. Several have done the same swap into a 4x2, easy, no problem.

If the truck is gonna be your DD(daily driver)...Get a same year Explorer drivetrain for ease of use and functionality.....If your looking for a weekend warrior or strip project go with the Mustang setup. Just my two cents.

A 1999-2000 (couple of others even) would work just fine and use the Explorer trans.
