5.0 swap, trans?

I have a few questions, i have a 5.0 out of a 90 FSB with a40d and the wireing harness and computer, i was woundering if it would work with the trans in my 86 4x4 ranger or would i have to swap the trans and t case also, im new too all of these ranger parts so be kind -thanks

If your ranger has a c5 automatic it can be used with a c4 bellhousing and valve body; but imho, you'd be better off with the OD trans and transfercase from the '90.

yeah I had a 92 ranger 4x4 stx I did the 5.0 h.o swap and I used a AOD tranny from a mustang that used the TV cable that hooked to the throttle for tranny and I bought the adapter shaft and housing from James Duff to keep my 4x4

well ill probably just run the 302,a4od,BW1356 setup out of the parts bronco then. thanks for the advice.

The E4OD is a large transmission compared to the AOD, and is quite a bit longer. The 1356 is also a very wide tcase, and will hit the framerail. You will need to clearance your framerail to fit it...an easier option is to either locate a Dana 20 out of an earlier Ford truck, like an EB, or get the advance adapters output shaft kit and run your stock tcase
