5.0 swap/ 94 ranger 4x4

I have searched the web trying to find info on a V8 swap into my 94. I find them all day long for the 96 and up. I can get my hands on a running 97 explorer for 500 bucks, But I am not sure if the OBDII wiring harness and A/C will work with my 94 OBDI truck. Looking for any info that can help me with this swap or should I look for another year donor vehicle. My truck is a 94 ext. cab 4x4 5 speed. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

I'm not an expert on this. BUT.....

If it were me and I had the entire, running donor vehicle, I would go for it. You will have the whole wiring harness, computer and dash to rob whatever you need.

You're in for a boatload of work. But if it was easy, everybody would do it, just like those Chevy boys putting LS motors in everything they get their hands on. Take lots of pictures and notes during disassembly and read as many forum threads as you can find - even those discussing other swaps. You can learn a little bit from almost all of them.

^^^ I second that. I wouldn't worry about what works with your obd1 setup. I would convert everything over to obd2. I don't know what needs to be replaced for the obd2 to work or if they're interchangeable between the two vehicles but there are plenty of 95-97 rangers out there to get parts you may not be able to use.
