Ok, so I have done my research of somewhat and I'd like to do a 5.0 swap from a similar year explore. I herd if you do a swap from the explore it should be a 5 speed and it should just drop in pretty easy and everthing wires up and plugs in except for a few wires. I know I will have to get the ECU changed. But what about the gears? and would I need stronger front susespoin. Also gear ratio's or common problems.

My ranger is getting my dad's 3.0 and my dads ranger will get the 5.0 (winter project) or my rebuilt 3.0. (oil pump went out and metal shavings in the engine)

The reason why we are swapping engines is my truck is in Way better shape. zero dents, little scratchs and 2 quater size rust spots I sanded and painted. Under body is in better condition.

Great resource is the tech library up top. Almost the same swap is covered in this. http://www.therangerstation.com/Magazine/Fall2009/explorer_v8_swap.shtml
A lot of people stay with the auto from the Explorer. very little weight difference in motors, no change to suspension. You should have the 8.8 rear end so good there. Good section down below on V-8 swaps in general.
