I am putting the 5.0 with a C4 in my ranger using convertible mounts, I am having trouble setting it, it's an off road truck so I only have the cab no fender wells to take measurements from. When I measure off of the cab firewall to the heads the same it seems like the tail shaft is off. Then when I measure the tail shaft the motor dosent look straight.

the heads aren't lined up with each other on the motor,so if you're trying to get the same measurement to them, the motor will be very crooked in the engine bay.

measure to the crank pulley and tailshaft to center it.

Switching the convertable mounts from where they are factory to opposite sides should allow you to bolt it in and in theory, be lined up.

Center in between the frame rails?

You would be off center that way just a little. But your exhaust may fit better. Best way is to center from fender to fender, but you don't have those. Just eyeball it.

I also have a issue with the connection plate between the motor and tranny, the plate came with the motor it had a manual tranny behind it. All off the bolt holes line up except for the bottom, starter holes are fine. What connection plate do I need to get for them all to fit?

Anybody? Is this a dumb question?
