I've swapped a mass air 5.0 from 89 stang in my toyota, recently hydro locked it and bent rod so in the mean time I got a good deal on a 5.0 from a 2000 explorer and I'm putting my wiring and plenum and everything on. My question was powersteering pumps is the pump from the Explorer any better then the one that comes with the mustangs. And the entire pulley assembly looked tighter to the motor I might swap that out as well

The explorer front engine accessory drive is definitely the way to go. P/S pump is updated from the mustang and everything fits tighter to the engine so you have more room at the front and just one belt.

Everything is a lot better. Depending on what you have for a dizzy and how it sits in there you might have to trim the bracket a little and fudge on the timing.

Because if the vacuum advance hitting the PS bracket mine is timed a tooth off and then the plug wires are rotated around the cap to get it close enough to be timed right.

I know you don't have vacuum advance but you have a big plug on the side of the dizzy that may create similar headaches. Explorers just used a little camshaft position sensor down in there.

I don't know how much of it will do you any good but it will at least show you how the dizzy fits in there. Here is a article I did about putting the Explorer FEAD in my '85 Ranger.

If you are using the TFI ignition, you can remotely locate the TFI and then your distributor can turn freely so you don't have to do anything funky to get the timing right.
