I bought a cam for my v8 Bronco 2 several years ago and never used it. Brand new in box. I need help deciding what kind of performance cam it is. .473 valve lift. .497 exhaust lift. .288 duration int. ..300 duration exhaust. Anyone know what I have? It's for a Ford 302
 
That is this exact camshaft.

It is colored "yellow", Not the best for low end torque or off-roading unless you keep the stock 3.73 gearing. It's good for 2000rpm and up.
 
Not really going to be for off roading. Some, but mostly a daily driver. Don't remember exactly why I thought this one was a great idea. Thanks for input
 
I also have a 92 5.0 with a roller cam. Maybe a better choice? Will be running GT 40 heads with an Edelbrock Performer intake and block hugger headers
 
1.7s with stock roller is a pretty good combo.

How long ago did you buy that camshaft? Within the past 2 or 3 years there has been a thing going on with new camshafts of all brands, they are prematurely failing, even when all the break in rules are followed. Maybe your camshaft is old enough to have missed this recent plague.

I don't think you can't go wrong with a OEM roller cam. Can be a little boring, but sometimes boring can be a good thing when you are out in the sticks and need something reliable.
 
How are you going to use the Bronco II? Too big of a cam will make daily driving less fun, though it would have an idle that impresses the kids at car shows. I'd use the roller cam engine, less parasitic drag and a lot less chance of a cam failure that would shed metal into your oil. I left the stock 95 F150 cam in the 351 in my Ranger with some 1.7 roller rockers and it works great for a daily driver while still making decent power. It has a Performed intake, a 600cfm #80457 Holley, and stock manifolds with 66 Galaxie ID numbers. If your engine has a stock Mustang cam it would be slightly bigger than mine but still work well with 1.7 rockers.
If you're buying a tractor, get the next one bigger than you think you need. For a cam, get the next one smaller.
