5.0 Bronco II Handling

IM about to gut my 2.9 outta my 86 Bronco II and install a 5.0 and c-4 Tranny... I read somewheres that someone did that and threw the whole balance off on the truck.. Has anyone heard of this before that has done this Modification? or is it BS?? Ide like to heard some feedback on people who have B2's that have 5.0 in there broncos...

I havent done the swap on a b2 but i am in the process on my 87. The 302 is about 100lbs heaver than your 6 cylinder so it will give you a negative camber on your wheels. Ive lifted my truck 7" and not had it aligned yet, I can barely keep it on the road. Alignment is something you will have to wait till after the swap to do.

Really, 100lbs is not much. The back end varies by almost twice that between a full tank and empty.

Just make sure you get an alignment afterward, and it probably wouldn't hurt to lift it or put some spacers under the front springs if you lose some ride height.

I don't have a BII either, but my truck didn't sag at all with the 5.0

I handles considerably better now, for some reason.

dont have one in a bronco but had one in a lifted ranger with no sway bars and the vert mounts which made the engine sit up about 3 inches off the cradle all in all handled pretty damn well for being lifted and what not

the answer is yes and no.


no the weight wont matter too much. but yes...it will as much as power transfer is concerned..

the extra weight and power together throw off the balance. all is mitigated by the driver if needed.


the front axle weight of my truck is @ 3600 pounds. i am right at 6000 with me in it.


in its current configuration it handles fine.

I had the same setup in a BII. That thing drove no different than the near identical 2.9L one I had aside from power. Both drove light years ahead of my lifted Ranger.
