4x4 v8 Ranger

Might as well go for the new engine?

the new engine also needs intake, throttle body and a new computer.

if i rebuild one the doner motor already has them. so will be saving over 1k in crap that i dont have to get.

nice trucks!!! i got a question tho and i dont know much about jumpin trucks but when your up in the air, your camber gets way off, what happens when you land on one wheel first? do you break stuff??? i know on my old 97 with i beams, when i would jack it up, it did the same thing and then when i let it back down the tires would slide back out..am i makin sense here or should i go lay down???

i have been getting a lot of feed back on other sites and from friends, when i first started looking at this i was thinking i would have to rebuild my old motor i just blew up and for that i would need the intake and crap too so would have been closer to the same price, but i have been looking for used exploder motors to rebuild instead of my motor, the exploder already has gt40 heads and a big intake so its perfect for starting this build so can save some $$

the suspension is built strong enough that landing on the side of the tire is no big deal. it lands perfectly flat off it anyways.

I think you have too much fun doing this shit! :thefinger:

i think you need a 408:icon_thumby:

your way past a stock oem 302 blocks strength in my eyes unless you get a current boss block. but a later 351 roller can be setup close to 400 hp with decent parts carefully shopping for 3-5 grand.

getting a stock 95-6 351 with some 40 heads shaved down a bit for compression will get ya well over 300 hp that will last through alot more hell then any oem 302. the torque curve will be nice as well.

just throwin it out there:dunno:

this is one of my favorite trucks so i had to say something:icon_thumby:

have you ever been in the desert when it actually rains?

not that ...that is the reason...but uhhh...it can get sticky out there.

i was looking into the boss motor... its 8k for a mild built one :(
the plans on the 302 were to bore to 306 and bump the compression to something up around 10.2-10.5 to 1. i dont really need that much more power then i have, i would be happy with around 350-400 hp. I havn't really looked into bigger motors because with the way the trucks cage is it will be hard to get anything but a 302 to fit and i want to make sure and keep the truck as light as possible, she is a heavy enough pig already. If there is something that would bolt in pretty close i might think about swapping out the motor f0r somthing else.

no kidding dude that looks like crazy fun!
im just curious why 4x4?
if you do the highspeed stuff y not go locked 2wd?
i use this truck mostly for chasing baja races and playing in the sand, and for pulling race trucks threw silt beds or back up the edge of a cliff 4x4 works better then a winch would and the 4x4 is not really slowing the truck down very much. this last weekend i raced at BAP and there was 71 trucks in the class and we ended up 10th (even after toasting our motor and getting stuck for 5 mins which is why i need a new motor now) so the fact that i was doing that good with 4x4 i was feeling really good.

playing in the mud with a truck with a locker in the front and a spool in the back is sure fun:icon_thumby:
