I am wantin to attemp to put a 302 in a 4x4 wising a 4spd trans and tcase out of 80s model truck. What all has to be done to make it fit. Kind of headers would I need? And engine mounts I seen the ones for a 4x4 is 240 bucks and the 2wd is onley 45 bucks.Would I be better off finding a good 2wd body?

The bodies are the same, its the T-case and front drive shaft thats a pain in the a$$ for headers.

I made my own headers and engine mounts.

The heater box has to be modded to clear the valve cover. Having a body lift makes everything fit better than without one. 70's van headers work the best or james duff..others will work just research more. Foxbody Mustang Convertible mounts work fine. Remote oil filter kit is a must.

Thanks 88 mudder. What about oil pan?

you'll want the dual sump oil pan.

I used the huge truck rear sump pan, and with enough blows from the hammer and one little spot that got epoxy'd I managed to make that fit as well. I wouldn't recommend that route though.

i ve got the motor out of an 88 f150 with fuel injection i used the original oil pan and made all my own mounts the only problem i have run into is the size of the t case

A rear sump pan works, a dual sump works a little better. You can use any array of mounts, see the tech library. Any V8 trans can be made to fit stick or automatic. The t-case choice can be a little picky. Shoot for a NP 205 or 208, they will fit the best. The 205 will fit with no modification, is heavy and strong but lacks a decent low range. The 208 barely fits but will fit with a little cutting of tabs and such. It can be made as hard to do as you want but actually be done with most basic tools and without a welder aside from an exhuast and driveshafts.
