4x4 problems

Does anybody know how to tell if your lockers aren't working or something else? my truck's 4x4 isn't working and it clicks when its engaged. but i canturn the shaft to the front and the axel spins. I can't figure it out.

Put it up on 4 jackstands and make sure its solid, put it in 4wd and let it idle in gear. If all 4 doo what they are supposed to you will know it. (I dont know if this works with limited slip, only tried it on a 2wd)

So is the problem in the axles or the Transfer Case? Do you have an electric case or a manual? You say your running lockers, what kind are they?

Sounds to me like he has an Elictric tcase and when he pushes the button it just clicks..a sign that the shift motor may need a cleaning/replacing.

If you can turn the front Driveshaft while it is in 4wd and in gear, you have a problem.....and the problem is that it's not actually in 4wd!

Thats what I was thinking. But every once and a while someone really throws a curve ball into the mix that leaves you .

Iam with black bII the shift motor is not engaging mine will do it once in a while and it will just click at you lol

I'll look into those. thx. And The 4x4 is engaged by turning the dial in the cab and it has auto lockers. And the reason I twisted the sfaft was the truck was parked in my garage in 2wd and i just wanted to see that the gears worked in the front axle. Thx again
