So i went through all of the diagnosis steps that were kindly laid out for everyone...found here. Everything worked out ok (including the self-diagnosis with the blinking red light on the module) until i got to step 5-C where it tells you to back probe the orange wire and check for 12 volts when the truck was turned on and the 4x4 button was pushed. I found that i didn't get any voltage. On to setp 6 according to the instructions.

In step 6 came the real problem, i didn't get 12 volts or 0 volts like it said. i did get 5 volts though. well actually 4.99 from the dark blue and 5.03 from the blue/white one. Everything else after step 6 checks out fine. I also cleaned out the shift motor and replaced it correctly....i've done it a few times before...usually that's what the problem is.

so there it is. Just don't know where to go after that. What else can i do or does anyone know what this means?

So I found the problem. It was that I didn't have the copper contacts well cleaned on the shift motor. I took a Dremel tool with a wire brush adapter and shined the circular part up till it looked brand new and did the same for those connections with the springs. I then carefully put it back together so I got NO grease on any of it. It worked like new!

Thanks for posting this. I had almost the same problem except I was geting 8volts at the motor. Ended up taking it off and realizing i didnt have the proper torx bit. I tried beating it on the ground and cycling the switch and that did it. I ran it through 2hi 4hi 4low a couple of times before I reinstalled it. I guess it was just stuck.
