Hi, All

I have been researching this issue on many websites, including this one and i inherited a 1993 ford ranger with the 4.0 and push button four wheel drive. as in the title the 4 wheel drive does not work. i looked at the box to try and push the button and what do i find someone has tried to replace the the 4wd shift module. and they did not just unplug the wires the cut them and tried to splice back in plugs that the wires are not the same colors :icon_surprised:. Me and my brother got it to make the relays in it click but that is about it the switch lights both glow and when you push them they blink once but i still dont know if it is wired right. the only thing i can think of to do is find another ranger that has the same wire color combos i have and cut the plugs off of it. Any help i can get would be greatly appreciated. oh and also i am dropping the tranny and transfer case to install a new clutch so i will be rebuilding the shifter motor for the 4wd.

Thanks

I don't have any constructive answer for your problem.

I've been reading on these transfer cases & transfer cases in general. I have the same T-case as you, and as soon as I run into problems with mine I'm shooting right for a manual shift. Just my 2 cents, but if you price up a 2012 1 ton truck you'll find manual shift is still a option.

Yeah, I would like to go manual, but i have spent all the money on this truck i would like. it had a rusted through dipstick tube and valve cover(gaskets bad to), clutch and slave cylinder, tailight , and now this 4 wheel drive. it was my dads then my brothers, the truck looks great and runs great just my brother didn't keep up with the maintenance, i think i am just going to come up with my own way to make a manual shifter, i work in the marine industry so i can get my hand on some good cables. just have to figure out how to attach them. and if worst comes to worst i will just buy a shiftster. Thanks for your 2 cents though.
