4x4 not working 02 ranger

I turn the switch and no lights, no clicking no nothing happens and 4x4 don't work. I just installed a in dash dvd and sub last night. I checked the switch to make sure it was still plugged in, and it is. I also checked the box on the passanger side (4x4 module) and its still plugged in and i tapped it. STill nothing.



I checked the 4x4 fuses as well.


any pointers?

Did you mess with any of the wires that go to the switch, GEM, or the 4x4 module? It sounds like something got crossed, grounded, etc. if everything went out after you installed the DVD etc.

the switch and the module look fine. What is the GEM?


Do you think my module went bad because the key was on when we pulled the battery?

My buddy didn't know the truck was on when he did (not running but on)

That should not have bothered it. The Gem is the module.

Yes, however there is a GEM behind the dash and one near/under the seat in the back of the cab, at least on newer models.

are you sure ur 4wd isnt workin, maybe the lights arent working but the 4wd might be maybe try setting the back end on something putting it in 4wd, and trying to drive off of it like maybe some cheap jack stands or something, i saw it on youtube lol, thats all i can suggest, im not good with wires and electricity so i just put my rigs in the shop when wierd stuff like that happens
