okay now i have a 2000 ford ranger and i live in some pretty harsh winters here in north Dakota but my four wheel drive has not been engaging and my little vacuum pump has gone out in it so i just manual engaging then but today i was driving and switch over in the schools parking lot and got into a spot that was about 4 or 5 inches deep covered in snow but then i drove out and leaving the parking lot i noticed that the back end was slipping out so i checked if my four wheel drive was in and the light was on so then i switched it off and then switched it back then tried it again and the same thing so then i turned it off and then went to a hill and got it so the back wheels would spin then i switched it over hoping i would hear a thud (i no its not the best thing in the world to do but its a easy way to check) so there was no thud so i assume that maybe it was the shifter motor so i went under the pickup and listened and i had my dad switch it over and i could here the shifter motor switched over so then yeah gave up and turned to you guys
