So i checked the 4x4 module in my truck and it is no good, can i get one from the junk yard and plug it right in or is there another way to get it working again so i can get my truck out of 4low. by the way the truck is a 88 ranger xlt super cab with a 2.9

This is the first I've heard of a module going bad. Are you sure it has power, ground, and all that jazz?

You can get one from the yard, but you're guessing as to whether it works. Same deal with a new one. It will PROBABLY work, but it's not that unlikely that it has never been tested.

do you know what wires go to ground and power? if its the pig tail you dont undo when testing then ill just fallow those to see where they go and what they do.

ive heard of a few shift modules going bad.

ive got the one out of my '93 laying around somewhere...worked fine when i removed it...
