ya, 4-hi is shift on the fly.
oh waityou have an auto dont you. it just occured to me that even stopped, an auto is still applying pressure to the drivetrane (wheres the forehead slap smiley?).

That is true, both are autos. My F-150's manual says to depress clutch for the manuals though, dunno if is just a good thing to do or if there is a lockout switch. I don't think I have ever used 4 low in a truck with a stick, usually the granny in our old 3/4 or one ton does the trick, they are the only ones I have been around.
