4x4 low


ya, 4-hi is shift on the fly.

oh wait :buttkick: you have an auto dont you. it just occured to me that even stopped, an auto is still applying pressure to the drivetrane (wheres the forehead slap smiley?).

im so used to 5 speeds :derisive:

That is true, both are autos. My F-150's manual says to depress clutch for the manuals though, dunno if is just a good thing to do or if there is a lockout switch. I don't think I have ever used 4 low in a truck with a stick, usually the granny in our old 3/4 or one ton does the trick, they are the only ones I have been around.
 
while i had push-button shift in my truck (5 speed), i could shift into 4-low with the truck in gear (clutch pushed in). the M5OD doesnt have a nuetral safety switch, so it has no way of knowing if the tranny is in gear or not...just if the clutch is in and if the vehicle is stopped.

with a manual tranny and a manual t-case, you can shift into low range at low (quite low) speed..as long as your not under power. theres a small clunk as the low range planetary comes up to speed...but nothing damaging.
 
Yeah, nothing is mentioned about neutral on a manual tranny, just pushing in the pedal.
 
Ya can't shift into 4-lo while in park because most of the time the gears are holding some sort of load.

I don't think the t-case slipping into neutral would be a good thing... Especially if you were in park on a hill...

If you flip the switch to 4-LO while moving it will just not shift. Nothing exciting happens.
