Good evening to all - I have a 93 Ford Ranger - 4.0 - w/manual locking hubs, I went to go into 4x4 last night - I got a loud (clunking ) noise in the front end a severe shimmy on the steering wheel at about 15 mph. Seemed to pull more towards the right for what lil I drove it. After unlocking the hubs it drove fine . Any ideas where I can start looking or suggestion plz ? ty in advance for ur help . Be well.

sounds like a joint in the shaft has frozen in place from lack of use or old age. look at the outer joint on the passenger side ,lock the hubs in,then turn the front drive shaft by hand while watching the joint for abnormal movement.
