4x4 difference??????

I know this is pulling this thread from the grave, but I was searching for tire info and stumbled on this.

My truck is a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 SuperCab with the Off Road package and Tow Package and it has factory front, mid (t-case) and rear (gas tank) skid plates.

My son's 2000 is the same as yours. I am trying to figure out what shock to put on it. There is also a 2" space between the rear axle and spring.

When I did my rear shocks I just went with the mid-level ones that Advance Auto sold...don't remember what they were but I think I paid maybe $50-60 for the pair.
