4x lights flashing... Hub module or tcase motor?

I got my truck about 2 years ago. The four wheel worked great for quite a while then the drivers side hub decided to stop disengaging. I would manually disengage it and everything would be fine. Well then one night the 4x lights would flash, 6 times every 2 minutes... Disconnected the battery over night then it worked great for about 4 months. Now sometimes it flashes and other times it doesn't, but if I flip the switch it doesn't engage. I don't want to change a bunch of stuff especially being because I'm doing a SAS over summer, but I'd like to keep the electronic tcase motor.

Just wondering what would cause this...

look in the tech section there is a troubleshooting guide.

Not finding a Tech section... looked in this subforum, V6 subforum... no luck.

in the 4WD system section, look at the top of the page where it says announcement beside the flashing red light. click on "read this before posting" there is a lot of info in there that should help you. good luck

Thanks much... I tend to ignore them as most do. I tried searching for a thread without much luck. Gonna try the fuse first... then I'll take off the motor and check the bushing, lastly tear apart the motor. I'll keep you all updated to my hopeful success!

Yeah well, checked all the fuses, they're good... take apart the blue cap, clean it, put it back together and still nothing.

Hop into it about twenty minutes ago after it has been sitting for about 6 hours. Start to back up and my back up lights aren't working... Same fuse as the electric tcase shift :icon_confused:

So just being myself I turn my 4X switch and voala! My 4X is working... :dunno:

I'm thinking my key switch might be at fault. It's been acting funny, dinging when there is no key in it, until I smack it or the bottom of the column. It hasn't dinged since the last time I hit it good even with the key in it... that was earlier today, after I "fixed" the 4X. :annoyed:

The lack of reverse lights still blows my mind as they run on the same fuse, and the tcase motor IS working... Maybe it's a module at fault??

Damn drivers side hub still isn't disconnecting correctly...

Everything is back to working now... Reverse lights were a loose connection on the transmission and cleaning up the contacts on the motor and resetting the ecu must have done the trick for the rest of it.
