okay guys .im am going to do the 4wd swap.i think ill just go with a solid axle.what do i do about steering, the engine cross member and where do i go about mounting trailing arms for the axle or what kind of set up is common.im looking for the easiest option right now.
thanks
ryan

or if i were to do a ttp swap whats involved in that?i have to to chenge the engine cross member right?how do you get that out when its welded in?

if you do a solid axle you wont have to change the engine crossmember, just fab up some radius arm mounts and a trac bar mount, get a 4x4 trans and tcase obviously, not sure about steering

can i put a dana 35 solid axle out of a jeep in it? and the track bar from the jeep.or is what axle can i put in that i can use the same track bar mounts from and radius arms.

Jeep 30s have been done. For the work involved most guys prefer the 44 since it's stronger and you have to do the same work either way.

okay so how do i go about fabbing up steering do we know anything that fits

Well if your doing the jeep Dana 30, you can use the jeeps steering linkage, like what Im going to be doing.

If your using a HP D44 Full width or an EB LP D44, you can use the factory steering linkage too but if your narrowing a HP D44, you might have to do custom steering linkage.

If your going to put the D35 TTB on, just use the linkage that comes with it, Im not sure if 2wd linkage is the same.

On SAS, most people say to build custom linkage.

are you doing a dana 35 ttp or solid axle swap? if solid axle ,you just used the stock jeep steering and mounted it up? and does that axle have radius arms ? i thought it had trac bars? wich wont work in rangers i thought.im happy you are doing the same swap .maybe you can answer some of these questions

anything that has radius arms will have trac bars

I havent done the swap yet but I'm do9ing the D30 swap. Track bar keeps your axle from moving side to side and the radius arms allow the axle to move up and down. Both these componets keep the axle under the truck where it should be but also allow it to do what its supose to do, be a suspension.

Hopefully buy mid to end summer, I will be doing this swap, its not hard to do but you need to do your research and do alot of reading on how its done and which options you want to do. Theres more then one way of doing this but they have the same concept, meaning you can use all stock components for the SAS to fabbing up your own track bar, radius arms and steering linkage.
