4wd PROBLEM >>>HELP<<<

Hey guys,

My 97 ranger 4.0 4x4 is havin problems maybe someone can help...?

When i engage the manual hubs and its not (switched) in 4wd yet!
The passenger wheel spins freely but the driver side spins about 1 revolution then tightens up till i cant spin it no more. the front axle spins and the drive shaft to the transfer case spins! There is no new parts installed.

When i dis-engage the hubs its fine!
I am not lookin into puttin alot of money in this truck!
is there an easy(CHEAP) way to fit it?? or do i have a 4wd lookin ranger that is really only 2wd??


All i know is i tried to go down to the river to go fishin but befor i got there i found out my 4wd was messed up!

What the hell are you posting your 4.0 in this pla for? You have another thread going in the 4.0 forum!
When you do that put the tranny in neutral and see if the wheel will turn.. AGAIN. you need to put her up on 4 jack stands and see what happens with it up there.
Is there any possibility you have a locker in front? That would splain everything.
You really should go back where this started. Do you have ANY idea how your system is designed to work?
