I have a 2002 Ranger and teh 4wd Low is no longer working. I am attempting to engage it properly, in neutral with the brake depressed, but I no longer hear the realy "click" when I select 4wd low. The 4wd high works great though.

Any help is appreciated!

Your shifter linkage might not be adjusted right, while stopped, foot on brake, and in neutral. Try lifting and lowering your shifter a little and see if it will shift then. Your computer might not "sense" it is in neutral even though you are

Well I tried moving the shifter and no luck, it simply will not go into 4wd low.

Its a possibility your tcase motor is going out, but if it goes into 4 hi ok, then your motor is shifting...does your brake lights work?? Might have a bad brake light switch ( improbable, but possible)....check your tcase wiring harness plugs at the tcase, might be loose/dirty...other than that, Your switch or control module are the only other parts in the circuit...

I just pulled the tcase motor because neither 4wd high or low was working. I could still hear the relay for 4wd high clicking, but not 4wd low. So I pulled the tcase motor off and "rebuilt" it (basically cleaned it up inside), and now 4wd high works perfectly, and is now amazingly fast, but 4wd low still does not work.

Where is the control module, and how do I check it? Is there a relay specific for 4wd low?

Thanks for the reply guys, we'll eventually get it!

They rane in location depending on which model you have...check behind the seat on the back wall, behind the driver side jump seat near the D pillar. I have heard under the front seats, but have not seen any models, not to say they don't...
