I just picked up an 8.8" (3L73) out of a '93 regular cab 4WD. Is this thing going to just bolt right up in place of my '93 7.5" or will I need to do any fabbing? Same driveshaft, brake lines, etc.?
Also, is there any way to check the Trak-Loc in it with out disassembling it before it goes in the truck?

No difference in 2WD vs 4WD axles (other than some differences in gear ratio availability).

A good Traction-Lok diff should take at least 20 ft-lbs to turn one wheel (according to the manual) to overcome the friction of the clutch packs. This number can be quite a bit higher on a diff in good condition.

So... if I hold the pinion and one wheel from turning and have someone try to turn the other wheel it should take at least 20 ft-lbs to turn it?

Just hold the other wheel from turning. It should take at least 20 ft-lbs, yes.

Thanks for the info. I read up on how easy it is to replace the clutches so I went ahead and pulled it apart. Apparently there might be some pieces left out of it. (See this thread I started over at TCCoA.) Are there any Trac-Lok gurus here that can shed some light on the subject?
