Needing to know a few things that I haven't found in searching the forum. First, will the transfer case (Don't know what model just know it's a manual off of a Mazda M50D-R1) bolt onto a 2wd manual transmission (Mazda M50D-R1) without having to change the output shaft on the transmission? Or am I going to have to swap the output shaft out. (friend says it is different I haven't found anything that says it is)

Before I forget truck being converted is 92 3.0l/ 5speed. super cab.

Parts are coming off of a 91 4.0l/ 5speed/ manual transfercase super cab. 3" body lift bent frame so body swaping not a good option and friend is parting it out. Transmission is gone or I'd just swap it into my truck with everything else.

What all will I need off of this donor vechicle?
Have:
front axle
transfer case
drive shafts
crossmember

need?:
spindles?
Radius arms?
Pitman arm? heck anything on the steering going to change on me? tie rod ends?
what Brackets if any?

If you plan posting junk replies please read below.

yes it makes more sense to buy a 4wd truck. No I don't care. No i'm not going to sas a truck with 3.0l. Not putting a v8 into this truck either. Yes I know to match the gear ratios between the 2 axles. Please usful information only Don't need 50 replys of junk (more like 50 pages) like I see everytime I search for something on these forums. O and Yes I can Weld. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE NO THREAD JACKING.

:icon_rofl: Yeah right... Is today your first day here????

The output shaft is different between the 2wd and 4wd transmissions.

You need the engine crossmember and everything below it including wheels ans tires, if you have 14" wheels.
Also, front and rear driveshafts, transfercase and shift mechanisms/ or electronics, transmission, transmission crossmember.

From what I remember of what AllanD told me of his same swap, the worst part seems to be switching out the engine crossmember. It involves cutting a lot of welds and rivets, and spreading the frame rails apart. Not to mention stripping the front of the truck and pulling the engine out.

I think you want way more than It's worth. Although 4wd is priceless...

And why not SAS a 3.0... I'm acquiring parts to sas my 88 2.3.... It's all in the gears.

Yeah.... I re-read your original post...

Your in way over your head with this idea of yours. I've seen it done, and thousands of miles put on it with no problem, so good news is it is possible.

But judging by the "common sense/ simple" questions you are asking... There is no way you are experienced and knowledgeable about these trucks or general mechanics to complete such a project.

Level of skill and difficulty 1-10...
This is a strong 15.

If you are really dead set on completely tearing your truck apart, doing serious modifications to the frame and then putting it back together in a whole new way... Hit me up, I know way too much about these trucks, love building stuff, and live in the same town you do.

I ain't asking for a how to I'm asking for a parts list to rape a truck that we are scrapping.

Not only that why would I want your help after reading that :icon_confused::icon_confused:. Hell why would anyone want your help. BTW I do know who you are and you need to pull your head out of your ass.

"donor" truck isn't in my driveway it's at a friends house and it's a 30 mile drive one way just trying to avoid a bunch of trips there and back.

the k member is a bastard to get out cleanly because of the welds where the rails meet the k member...

you will want to pull the front spreader most 2wd have....and the radius arm brackets at least loose in the center bolts, to spead the rails and install it in the 2wd chassis....its all cake and lolipops from there.

gile says he has some pics of my shit that may simplify things....told him to join and post up. but he says he is e mailing them.

pulling the steering mount is necessary to do what i suggested...

it sux but its not that bad.
