On my 96 ranger the TC keeps unlocking in over drive when I'm in between the speeds 60-70 mph. Anyone have an idea on what could cause this? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

With 3.08 gears the computer probably thinks there is too much load on the engine for the torque converter to lock up, but not enough load to downshift. It will split the difference and unlock the torque converter. It probably stays locked on level flat terrain but any more "squeeze" on the go-pedal causes the torque converter to unlock.

mine does this as well, so I don't use the cruise much and just keep the gas pedal in the same spot. I slow as I go up and speed as I go down. My dad is a "pedal pulser" he likes to gas it and take his foot off the pedal, he does this a lot and I don't like him driving my truck. Why mention this? Every time you take your foot off the pedal, it unlocks the torque converter.

I'm still thinking of a 3-way switch mod: locked, computer controlled, unlocked... without angering the computer or borking the transmission. Sorry if I thread-jacked.
