I have a Ford Ranger with a 2.3 liter engine and a 4R44E transmission. My transmission has started slipping in reverse under acceleration. If I idle back, it will back up fine but if I try to accelerate in reverse, it will start to slip. It isn't a gradual slip. It feels like it goes into neutral. There is a definite breakover point. I have searched many forums for hours but have not seen this problem addressed. Thanks for your help. Steve

The servo piston for the reverse band is accessible in the valve body. Probably have a blown out valve body gasket at the servo cover area.

I am going to pull the valve body this weekend. Does anyone offer an upgrade kit that would be a reasonably simple job to install while I have it out? All forward gears shift fine as of now.
