4r44e o/d off light flashing

So i finally got my truck back from the shop and my 'new' motor runs like a champ. 98 Ranger 3.0

On my way home the o/d off light started flashing and she wouldn't go into high gear. Further driving reveals the transmission is trying to tear itself apart with this light on.

Whenever I restart the truck the light goes away and it's smooth on the transmission. If I baby it it doesn't seem to flash the light as quickly.

I'm taking it to a transmission shop I sort of trust after work/ASAP.

Anyone have any input? It doesn't seem like the transmission is shot to me. But I'm an engine guy not a transmission guy.

Hi. My 1995 2.3, rear wheel, 4r44e is doing the same thing. Did you ever get your trans fixed?

I'm having the same issue, what did the shop say when you brought it to them?
