So I did a transmission filter change on my 1998 ford ranger 4x4 and now it seems to be making a whining noise when in park at idle. Seems to drive fine just wondering why it's making this noise.

Did you put the orings on the new filter? Was the old and new filter the same in appearance 2x4 vs. 4x4? Fluid level proper?

The noise seems like it may have went away it was never really loud to begin with though.
The filter was apparently an updated version for the a4ld? I put the o-rings on and the only thing that I was concerned about was that the larger inlet seemed like it had some play up and down when the bolt was tightened down you could push up on the filter and it would go a little farther into the hole then move out again I pulled the filter off twice before I finally decided it was on correctly. The fluid level is halfway into the cross hatches on the dipstick.
