4low will not engage

So when i replaced my slave cylinder and put my tranny back in and hooked everything up, my 4H wouldnt work. Now that ive replaced my flywheel and got everything hooked back up, my 4H works but my 4L doesnt engage. When you put it in 4L and then in gear you can hear a slight grinding and the truck doesnt pull. Is there some sort of adjustment that ive got wrong? Im under the assumption that when you bolt the 4wd shifter back up that theres only really one way it can all go so im confused as to whats happening.

Is this a manual transfer case? You probably have the TC shifter guide-plate mis-aligned, so the stick can't move far enough back to actually engage 4L.

I had this issue when I had to have some work done on my flywheel in my Bronco 2. First it wouldn't go into 4Lo. Then for some reason it started working. My guess was my linkage was slightly bound up and after playing with it a bit it straightened itself out and its worked fine ever since. Your problem sounds like the shift lever linkage just needs to be adjusted, not sure how to do that but someone with that knowledge should answer here pretty soon.
