was looking into puttin a 4bt in a ranger and i have seen a few build up on them but nothing that goes into big detail and i was wondering what all you need to have b4 you start i know motor and trans but what kind of trans and computer???

A 4bt doesn't use a computer. The trans you use depends on the adapter you buy. You can get adapters to use a Ford 4spd (t18, np435, etc) you can also get adapters to fit a chevy or gm trans such as the sm465. You could also go to a 5spd such as a nv3500 or nv4500.

You should keep all the acccessories, rad, any lines or hoses that are connected to the motor. You probally should keep a piece of the frame where tha motor mounts hook to. Also a trans mount or crossmember wouln't hurt. Basically anything that is directly related to how the motor functions or anything that helps mount the motor in the truck.

to make a 4bt work there is no computer. You need a lift pump for the fuel, and a power wire.....for the on/ off fuel solenoid usually, and thats about it.
