Is there a company that makes an adapter plate to bolt up the Cummins 4Bt diesel engine to the Mazda M50D-R1 5-Speed tranny? Will this tranny hold up to the 130+ft lbs. additional torque. Stock the cummins puts out 105 hp but its capable of 300+ hp.

Thanks for all the input.

If I swap to an A/T which should be used?

No.

NO.

I'm running a ZF5 behind mine, but if you can limit yourself on the power potential of these motors (I cant!!), you can get away with an M5od-R2 from an F150.

I'm starting to worry about the ZF holding up to my "4 cyl" engine. Its only rated for 420 Ft-Lbs.

does either tranny you mentioned bolt directly to the Cummins?

Nothing bolts directly to the Cummins B series.

Every trans, PTO, etc all need some form of adapter housing. Cummins makes a bunch of different adapters. (Dodge, Ford small block, and chevy... amongst others) Most of the bread truck 4bts came with the ford small block or chevy adapters. The dodge adapter is everywhere... you may have heard of the 6bt. Well it uses the same adapters as the 4bt.

Fordcummins and Destroked make adapters for just about any trans that will hold up to the power, but be ready to pay for them.

Man, $800 for an adapter. I guess if you plan to do a 4bt swap you plan to send the money.

Dont forget to add the cost of a 6.0l starter, a "special" flywheel (only available from them.), a crank spacer... You're over $1200 easy. Thats how much I paid for my 4bt with the ford small block adapter already installed.

destroked.com has adapters. the 6bt is the same as the 4bt so you could buy an adapter there

Care to show me the adapter to bolt the Cummins up to a M5OD-r1 like the OP asked about?
