I have an 85 ford ranger that the motor just died in, I also have access to a 460 with tranny. I'm thinking about doing the swap so can someone please tell me what exactly I will be getting my self into?
Size of the engine requires modification of the engine bay.
Fuel injection, of course, requires some kind of computer control and the associated wiring, but well worth it IMO.
The in tank fuel pump on '85 should be usable with pressure regulator and carb, but second high pressure pump would need to be added for fuel injection.
Electronic ignition can be done with or without computer.
The steering shaft is one of the biggest issues..The box needs to be relocated to the outside of the frame rail to clear any sort of decent flowing manifold/header
