I am a weekend wheeler and will be using my Ranger for a DD for the time being. I was looking at the Skyjacker suspension and was curious if anyone had any input on the 4" lift versus the 6". I plan on throwing on some 33" rubbers. Pros and Cons? Thanks for the input.

The 6in would be best for 33's. But I'd recommend a K link style of steering like the super runner kit for the 6in. I'd think the 4in would be best for you and just run 32's.

Thanks for the reply.

What about steering issues with the 6" lift. Is the drop pitman arm enough or is the Superlift Superrunner steering setup worth it?

Any other information?

Many will say that if you have the money, get it. It's just that steering alignment is a bit goofy at that height, and extreme drop pitman arms put unecessary leverage on the steering box. The supper runner kit rids you of the geometry issues. I'd ask 4x4 junkie more about this. If he doesn't catch up to this thread, PM him. Good Luck.

The centerlink on a Superrunner kit needs to be modified for 6" lift as well (in spite of what Superlift says about it working with such lifts)

Unless you have a good, strong 220V welder, I wouldn't attempt modding it yourself.
Having such a welder, I'd say go for the Superrunner. It won't put the added leverage of the bigger pitman arm on the box.

(replied to your PM, also)

your truck shoulden't need 6 inches to fit 33's.as a daily driver the pucker factor would be much less with the 4 inch and you don't need to hack up the super runner steering

Thanks for the input. I am leaning towards the 4" lift. Is there any 4" lifts comparable to the Skyjacker?

There is james duff's 3-3.5" lift which many consider to be the same quality and then the lower end tuff country which is cheaper (in both meanings of the word).

With 4" of lift and 33s, I would imagine I will need back spacing to fit the tires. Is there are huge negative with backspacing (i.e. over stressing the axles ends?). Or could I get away with 33x11.5s or 33.10.5s (I believe BFG M/Ts come in this odd size) instead of the 33x12.5 and eliminate the need for backspacing.

you can't space it in more than factory or you will hit suspension parts

Ok I am also Looking into a lift and new tires of the same sizes on my DD. Ive got a 91(the one in my avatar). Are there alot of extra necessary steps to take for a 6 inch lift? (new driveshaft, steering linkage,etc...) I want 33s and 6" skyjacker but if I could go with 32s and a 4inch lift, seems it would be plenty capable. Any input?????? Oh and whats a good gear ratio for the 2.9 with these tires?:icon_bounceblue:

You can get away with 3.73s, but 4.10s would probably be a better all around gear for 32s and 33s. You can still maintain decent on road manners. Thats probably what I will be installing down the road.
