4 or 6 inch lift questions

Hey guys soon(month or two hopefully) I will be buying a 93-97 4.0L 4x4 Ranger probably closer to the 97 year because I like that the speedometer goes to 120 instead of 85:headbang: Thats right I am basing my desiccation on a speedometer lol.

Any ways I ways I want to make it look like a pre runner but I am a high school senior so a 3000 dollar long travel kit is definitely not an option.

I have been looking around at some lifts what would get me closest to pre-runner height a 4 or 6 inch lift?

I was originally thinking a skyjacker 6inch but there website is like gone and im not sure if that will be to tall.

I have heard mixed reviews about Rough and Tuff country lifts. This will be my DD and see light off roading manly going up on logging roads and tearing up muddy fields. The tuff country 4" Suspension Lift Kit (EZ-Ride) price is definitely right for me but is this going to be one of those you get what you pay for kind of things? Also I am surprised I can only run 31`s but sense I will get flared fenders this may not be that big of a problem.

On the rough country kit you have the option for a Kit with rear blocks which is about the same price as the tuff country lift. Than theres one with rear springs for 200 dollars more are the rear springs worth the extra 200 dollars? I like this kit because it says I can run 33`s.

What are some other good lifts to give it a pre-runner ride height?

Last do long travel kits make your tires stick out farther than a normal lift so if i were to get flared fiberglass fenders would they just totally cover up my tires?

I would ask this after I get the truck but I am bored and online so I thought I would ask it now.

yes....you definately get what you pay for....

if you plan to "pound" the truck prerunner style you really want the BEEFY Skyjacker Class II parts....considered the strongest lift brackets available.....

my 96 came with 31's stock ( actually 265/75/15's which equals 31's ) so with a lift of 4" you should easily be able to run 33's....

also you should know that if you get a 4.0 Super Cab ( which is the heavyest stock Ranger out there ) then a 6" lift will end up being closer to 4"

and with some wider aftermarket rims and some 33/ 12.50's you should easily fill up the fiberglass fender wheelwells......

I do plan on getting the supercab. Like I said the Skyjacker lift was what I was originally thinking the only thing is the price a class 2 lift is like 1700. For that price I might as well just safe up another month and get a Camburg racing long travel kit. You know the more I think about it if I am going to do this I am going to do it right and just go with a long travel kit.

If you're looking to jump the truck and generally running it around at high speeds, I would agree, get the Camburg kit. Not that it's necessarily stronger, it's more designed for that specific purpose (better stiffer shocks designed for more endurance, modified beams that offer increased clearance, and so on). The Skyjacker kit would be better for a trail wheeler/crawler rig that won't be aired out all the time (though with some good shocks on it, you could get the Skyjacker setup to perform pretty well too).

Definitely stay away from Rough Country though. First jump and you'll have your front diff housing busted open by the drop-plate bracket RC uses. Tuff Country kits don't have this issue, though they still wouldn't stand up very long to such use, they just weren't designed for it.
