when i go into 4 high no probs when i try for 4 low no go :( its a 86 ranger 2.9l 5 speed manual with auto hubs and electric t case any thoughts?

In newer trucks, 4HI to 4Lo change requires brake and clutch pedals pressed. Is it this way in yours? Has 4Lo ever worked in your truck? If it did, what changed?

i have a b2 with the 2.9/5spd/electric hubs and tcase and mine did that this past year in the snow storms we had, good thing i didnt need 4L, my solution was to just buy a manual tcase for $100. the shift motor on those things wear out after a while. a new one is ~$100 depending on where you look

Go to the tech library and find the write up on cleaning the shift motor, it takes about twenty minutes. I had this problem and fixed mine in an instant.

well its a 86 and tried the clutch brake in nuetral i tried releasing the tension on the t case by rolling in reverse stopping and then holding the clutch brake and being in neutal the shifter motor is brand new the fuses are good so on and so forth down the list anyone know anything about the clutch and neutral safety systems:icon_confused:? mine are bypassed and dont know whare hey are located thanks for the help

A blinking Low Range light means the system is waiting for an input from the neutral/clutch pedal switch and/or brake lamp switch to confirm it's safe to make the shift. I'd start with checking those circuits and their sensors if it's not working.
