4 cylinder 4x4

Yes - they did !

They are uncommon, not rare.

I believe they stopped making them in either '96 or '97.

Really, all you need is a 4 cyl 4x4 trans and you can build one yourself out of any ranger 4x4 and a Lima 2.x.

I have a 95 ford ranger 2.3l 4wd. just turned 200,000 miles and still runs strong

It doesn't look too bad to swap a 4cylinder in if you get a good deal on a v6.

I'm working on swaping a 2.3 into my B2, and the TK bellhousing bolts up to the Mitsubishi fm145 in my truck. It is also the same depth. They use a different flywheel, starter, and pressure plate, but the same clutch, and the clutch alignment tool fits just fine.

I know I'm swaping down, but not much power difference in the 2.3, and 2.8 also much more available parts, and more room to work on it. Hopefully better fuel economy also?

I set it in for the first time just a couple of minutes ago, and with the motor sitting on my 2.8 mounts with the alignment pins ground off I have an inch between the bellhousing and block. I may have to slot the block side motor mounts. I will report back if anyone is interested.
