Not sure if this is a Engine question or more of a suspension question but here goes. Who is running 33's with a 4 cylinder? Is it a dog trying to turn the heavy tires? What gears do you run? I'm looking at a stock 95 with 4 cyl. and 5 speed with 110K miles, and am wondering how this combo will work. Not looking for a speed demon, or trying to haul a ton.

Thanks!

Oh and can I hit 20MPG? I know wishful thinking...

colinrmitchell did it, made his truck a big dog tho with bad topspeed. i think he has 3.73 gears stock but they ratio drops with bigger tires

At least 4.56's, if not 4.88's. I'm planning on running 31's or maybe 32's with my 2.3. I have 4.10's and run 30's now and It's peppy.

I have a 97 ranger with a 2.3 and 33x12.5 inch tires and no power stearing. Its a pain at times but I got used to it. Im runnin 4.56 gears and i can beat stock brand new 2.5 Rangers.

Thats what Im wanting to hear!! Is that your truck in your avatar? Thats the eventual goal. Tho will have to wait till the Mustang is payed off...

Yeah thats mine in the pic. You looking to make it a desert truck? Thats definately the way to go when it comes to I-beam rangers!

Ya I would like a desert truck. Tho for now it would just have the look. Then later on when I dont have to worry about a car payment I'll do the long travel suspension, beefy axle, more power etc.

Also I got people on another forum saying go with 5.13 gears!! I may consider 4.88's...

wow..thats a pretty steep ratio...my first gear feels short enough with the 4.56's.. I dont think I would go lower uless I was runnin like 35's.

Ya thats what I was thinking. Have you done much to the engine? How does it pull through the gears compared to stock with the 4.56's?

It def. pulls the 33's alot better..I can light em up on dry asphault if i really try....motor just has a K&N filter and its got a Magnaflow Exhaust.

OK that settles it. From your first hand knowledge and experience I'll go with the 4.56's :icon_cheers:

Glad to hear it man..I think you will be satisfied. Let us know how it goes.
