Hey, I might be putting some 32x11.5 R 15's on my ranger But first I want to find out whether or not I should change the gears. I currently have an open 8.8 with 4.10 gears. My engine is the 3.0 L with a 5 speed tranny. All of this would be after a 3" spindle lift.

Also, I plan on putting either a powertrax lock-rite or a no-slip locker in if that makes any difference.

Should I get the gears changed or would it be okay with the 4.10 gears?

On a side note, if you have a powertrax, how do you like it?

All help is greatly appreciated!

I have a Lock-Rite and I like it. On the street you can tell it's there, but it's not too bad and you get used to it.

It would be okay with 4.10's but 3.0's make what little power they have to begin with up high, so you'll be happier with 4.56's. Especially with a stick, especially since you only have one gearset to change.
Powertrax has good products, the No-Slip is smoother than the Lock-Rite but it costs more.

I put 31's on my truck. its got 4:10's and a 3.0L with a stick. It was noticable but not bad. with an extra inch in height I would probably want to change gears.

i would be willing to bet that eventually you will want to go bigger than 32's. hold off on the gear change so you dont have to do it twice when you decide you want taller tires and deeper gears.

You'll want bigger than 32s someday, so if you want to regear go with 4.56s.

And a No-Slip is definitely better (smoother) than a regular Powertrax.

I might even say 4.88 if you want some extra pep or plan to tow at all (4.88 is actually ideal for 33s on the 3.0L). 4.56 should work fine too though.
