4.10 or 4.56?

those radars are at spots where the 65 limit goes to 55 and vise versa.so my 33's measured out at 31"s tall=2900 on the chart.i'll have to get a tach and see if my trucks tach is off 200 rpm's at about 3 thousand rpm's.other than that i don't know?

Ok well I decided to just get the 4.56 gears. I plan on getting all new bearings and everything when I do this. I got anothe question, I dont want to start another thread so il just ask it here. Is it worth getting a 8.8 rear end?

YES.

the 7.5 is not the strongest subject in the world from the get go. when you start adding larger tires and taller gears (smaller pinion), they start to get really weak, really fast.

in fact we had a 4.56 loaded 7.5 in the shop a few months ago for a stripped pinion.

The FACTORY crosspins are "Notched" with a flat cut only at one end
and this narrows the contact against the carrier case, leading to carrier failure.

SOME of the AFTERMARKET crosspins (Moser) are "notched" with a curved cut
in the middle of the pin.

This would appear to be a superior method and in theory it is......
The problem is that so far ALL of the pins (four of them) I've seen with this
style notch have proven to have been inadequatly heat treated
and have "Galled" on the ends where the spider gears rotate on
the shaft.

I have yet to see any factory pins galled the same way.

All this is moot, I've NEVER seen a broken crosspin.
The carrier case or spider gears break first.

i got a precision gear cross pin like the moser style above with my 4.56 gear set.i don't know if precision makes them in house,i'll have to keep an eye on it and report on how it holds up.

allen were the galled up pins under hard usage(racing, big tires) or typical wheeling?i'll have to keep that in mind when i'm workin' the spider gears.

or pinions.

especially when you start getting into the 4.56+ range.

lol heres a pic of my 7.5 after busting the carrier on the trail. im upgrading to a 8.8 and hope it all works out. im sure the truck will be fine with a bigger rear end. weakest points of a gen 1 are the axles, IMHO.
