Ive got one truck with 4.56 gears and 4 wheel high is more than usable on most terrain besides rock hills. Im looking for the other truck to go with 4.10 gears (this truck sees a lot of highway) for my daily driver and still want to be able to use 4 wheel high to traverse most situations.

The truck is a 4.0L OHV with 5R55E transmission. I have 33x10.50 BFG A/T KOs on it. Right now it has 3.27 gears and 4 wheel high is absolutely useless.

What do you guys thing about 4.10s in this situation. Id like to maintaine decent fuel mileage but dont want to have to use 4 wheel low for everything. As it is when im in the woods i just leave it in 4 low and use the hubs to disconnect 4 wheel when im on hardpack trails. Rather just leave it in 4 wheel high so the transfercase motor can have a break durring the day.

I doubt you'd see much difference in mileage between 4.10 and 4.56 gears running 33" tires on a 4.0L.
If you're looking for factory 4.10 axles in a junkyard just to save on cost, then go for it. 4.10 is certainly adequate for 33s. But if regearing the existing axles I'd definitely shoot straight for a set of 4.56 gears (I regretted not doing so when I did the 4.10s on mine).

I would be regearing with new parts for the front and just roll my 7.5 with 4.10s from my 1998 2wd under that truck. I think ill just go 4.56 again. I get about 18-20mpg highway with my truck that has 4.56 gears and its the same year, engine, transmission, everything as the truck im going to regear.

That one also originally had 3.27 gears and got between 22-24mpg highway with the 33s. Thought maybe I could get away with 20-22mpg with 4.10 gears.
