I am doing a 4.0L engine swap and removing the engine from a 1993 Explorer with auto trans. I am down to the last operation. The shop manual states to remove the trans access cover plate and disconnect the flywheel from the converter. This is a replacement trans and I see no cover plate. I also see no cover plate in the detail drawings. The only access to the flywheel nuts is through the starter motor hole. I would need to rotate the engine to gain small access to all four nuts. Is this what I need to do?

there is plate on the bottom of the bell housing. take a picture

going through the starter hole is easy and just use a ratchet and turn the crank bolt to spin the engine to get all the nuts off

There isn't A small hole with 2 small screws not on the bell housing but on the plate between the engine and the trans ? The starter hole works just as good but both are nice to have when putting it together.A quick tip when putting that together make sure the torque converter goes in all three stages if you put it together and the motor dosn't turn over thats whats wrong its only in two stages
