I'm kicking around putting a 289 in the Broncostar. Could a guy run an old 289 carb engine with it's stock distributor and then put a car EFI intake on it and then plug the stock RBV injector harness into it and then split the wiring on two of them to fire 2 injectors each? With a mass air sensor and o2 sensor the .7L difference shouldn't be that big a deal. It would be allot like the old bank fire EFI the trucks had. Just thinking out loud here. RB

I don't believe the computer will function with out some sort of signal from the crank position sensor. That is quiet a bit more displacement ~ 20% over the 4.0L. I think you would be better off trying to use a TFI V8 5.0L engine management system, over a EDIS V6 4.0L engine management system. That matches much more closely.

Even though it does have a MAF and an o2 sensor, I learned from modifying my 2.9L that the PCM still does have it's limits on what it can handle and tolerate. It's tuned to the characteristics of the engine that it was intended to run.

The computer also monitors things, like the flyback voltage from the coil per se to make sure that the coil is functioning. I think you will run into a lot of things that would ultimately make the project unenjoyable. Never heard of anyone doing a project like this, it may very well run, but probably not well at best. IMO Never hurts to try something new though, the stuff that's learned in the process is priceless.

I could always try it and if it don't work I'm not out anything. RB
