I'm planning to put a set of JBA headers on my Ranger along with a cat-back exhaust. The part I'm unsure of is the catalytic converter.

Is it a bolt in component or is it welded in?

Is there an aftermarket replacement available for the catalytic converter? Got a part number I can use?

As long as the header and exhaust are being replaced I might as well put in a new catalytic converter. I'm not looking for a straight/test pipe. I want (and need) an actual catalytic converter that will pass Colorado emissions testing.

While extremely hard to get to the factory cats do bolt up to the JBA headers. I have them in my truck.

Great! Thanks for confirming that. Any aftermarket available? On my Titan they are called b-pipes. Do you guys call them the same thing? I'm running metallic core aftermarket b-pipes on the Titan and they made a noticeable. difference.

Never mind. I found the direct fit catalytic converter set that Magnaflow makes. Part #23388.

I started laying out the parts and I may have a problem. The JBA headers didn't come with a Y-pipe. Did you get a Y-pipe from JBA? I have a Walker Y-pipe but it doesn't look like it mates up well to the end of the headers. The Walker collector (?) seems to be awfully small compared to the JBA cone (?). The flange of the Walker is not the same size as the JBA flange so the bolt holes don't quite match up. I'm not sure I want to take the OEM Y-pipe out just to see if it mates up better.

I have one bolt left before the catalytic converter comes off. It's a tough one to get to but I think I can get it once I get a cheater pipe. I had to cut off one catalytic converter nut/bolt.

Any recommendations for disconnecting the Y-pipe from the manifold and then removing the manifold? I've been spraying the manifold bolts with PB Blaster for a week hoping to loosen them up a bit.
