Well tomorrow I'm going to pick up the donor, and some new parts, and then the 4.0 swap begins, wish me luck!

Good luck, there isnt much to it. Yours should be easier than mine from what I hear. Mine has more power than before even with the 33's on. I swaped all power train and running gear.

Any pointers? Should I pull the 2.9 first or the 4.0? Or don't it matter? I hate wiring so I'm a little Leary

Heres a question, my donor is a automatic, my b2 is a stick, I do have a harness from a donor with a stick, should I use the stick harness? Would this eliminate some trouble?

What year is the donor explorer?
you could adapted the automatic to manual. i am going to make a guess a manual harness would be easier. my swap was a manual explorer to a manual truck.

I think you will need a computer for a manual because of the neutral safety switch

Both donors are 91

Look on eBay for Evtm's for the bronco II and the donor Explorer.
You never know someone here might have some copies too.

your swap should be a cake walk, most your work is at the white plug that goes into the firewall and its a matter of moving some pins around from what i have read.

I would pull the 2.9L and harness first then install the 4.0, make sure you take lots of photos and notes here things go.

I'm currently runnin an auto ecm . I have a 5 spd. It can be done.Use the harness from your donor, splice in your headlights and tailights. That should cover it.

Thanks for the info keep it coming, I'm starting to pull the 2.9 out today,

After you get your 2.9 out. Remove the 2.9 harness. Try to recreate the donors engine compartment in your B2. It'll look cleaner this way. Then install your 4.0

Splice the headlights? I thought the headlights setup were the same on the bronco as the explorer?
The tail lights should no be part of the engine manage harness.
At least it was that way with my 87, I don't remember removing anything for the tail lights in the 93 explorer harness.

I used a gen 3 ranger for my swap, had to splice a little.
